Updates

Well, I am giving the site a face lift…so to speak. I have been slowly but surely changing the looks of most of the pages. It is a long process, but should be finished in the next few weeks.

I am almost finished with my Hampton Palace Photo Tour which I will post asap! I’m very excited about this project! If anyone would like to share pictures of the palace for the photo tour I would love to post them (giving credit to the owner of course!) You can contact me here. I am also going to start a photo tour of the Tower of London…at some point!

I am also working on letters of the Tudors which I hope to finish up this summer.

I have added a ton of new books to the book blog. There are a lot coming out this summer and fall! You can check them out here.

Man and Monarch Online

I’m not sure if I have mentioned this before, but the British Library’s Henry VIII exhibit has a site where you can click and view some of the exhibit. It is pretty neat. I haven’t seen some of this stuff before! You can zoom in on documents, etc. to get a really good look at them. Here is the link.

Portsmouth plans to say Hooray Henry

Another 500th Anniversary celebration: Portsmouth and the Mary Rose Museum will host a Tudor river pageant and other Tudor events (like falconry, cooking, etc.) on June 28th. It sounds like a ton of fun…and the best part? It’s FREE!!!! Sooo sad to be on the other side of the world with so many Tudor events going on! If anyone goes and wants to share pics or tell about their time there, please let me know here! Thanks!

Food Review

I stumbled across a site today that has written about the Tudor cooking events at Hampton Court Palace. It is a good read, as well as offers pictures of some of the food and a few links to find out more about Tudor food and recipes. Here’s the link.

Avoncroft Museum Celebrating 500th Anniversary All Weekend

The Avoncroft Museum, near Bromsgrove, is having a weekend to “meet Henry VIII; learn about Tudor weaponry; watch archery demonstrations and feel what it was like to be a Tudor by dressing up in Tudor costume. For the strong and brave, there will be a chance to become a Tudor soldier in Henry VIII’s Kiddie Drill.” It seems like a real family oriented event for those who are close by. Here is the link for more info.

I am playing around with the look of some of the blogs, so do not be alarmed if you see any sudden changes! I haven’t found a theme I absolutely love yet, but hopefully will soon!

Cooking Event

Among the many Henry VIII celebratory events at Hampton Court this year, the Tudor cookery event sounds quite appetizing. In the massive Tudor kitchens cooks will be demonstrating Tudor cooking techniques and recepies. Here is the link for times and prices.

Henry VIII’s Love Letter to Anne Boleyn Video

I have posted about the British Library displaying a famous love letter written by Henry VIII to Anne Boleyn, but here is a great video about the exhibit. It is informative and offers several views of Henry’s intentions.

Here is the link.
